SRJC BRIDGES

GET AHEAD , GET PREPARED.

Welcome to SRJC BRIDGES, a summer bridge program that provides holistic support to students looking to get a head start in their college career. The program runs for 6–8 weeks, from June 17th to August 11th(Summer Semester). Students can participate in one of four Bridges offered. Regardless of what someone chooses, they will receive support for their entire journey from a team of dedicated individuals invested in student success. SRJC BRIDGES includes free lunch every day, provides writing and math assistance, fosters community and belonging, and offers early access to campus resources.

The Key Components of SRJC BRIDGES (choose any or multiple)

  • College Composition for Multilingual Students (EMLS 10, 4.5 units) : This course for multilingual students emphasizes expository and argumentative writing, appropriate and effective use of language, close reading, cogent thinking, and research strategies. An additional focus is integrated grammar and academic vocabulary instruction based on needs typical of second-language learners.

  • Academic Reading and Writing (ENGL C1000, 4 units) : This course, students develop essential academic reading and writing skills, focusing on writing processes, effective language use, analytical thinking, and the foundations of academic research. Students engage in primarily argumentative and analytical writing through a process-oriented approach that fosters strong writing habits and critical thinking.

  • Introduction to Statistics (STAT C1000, 4 units) : This course is an introduction to statistical thinking and processes, including methods and concepts for discovery and decision-making using data. Topics include descriptive statistics; probability and sampling distributions; statistical inference; correlation and linear regression; analysis of variance, chi-squared, and t-tests; and application of technology for statistical analysis including the interpretation of the relevance of the statistical findings. Students apply methods and processes to applications using data from a broad range of disciplines.

  • Pre-Calculus Preparation Workshop (Monday through Thursday, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
Taking Pre-Calculus or Pre-Calculus Trigonometry (Math 25 or Math 27) this Fall 2026? Be prepared by taking this workshop that provides review and introduction of critical skills needed to be successful in either critical pre-calculus course. This workshop is not a course. It requires no enrollment as an SRJC student, is completely free, and open to everyone. This workshop is for students pursuing STEM pathways.

For all components of the program, instructional aides will be provided to guide attendees and help overcome any academic barriers that may come about while attending workshops or courses including tutorial assistance or connection to other resources around SRJC.
